Zooey Deschanel's gown is my favourite for Golden Globes 2012 red carpet arrival. It is a custom made green and black rhinestones jeweled gown from Prada. Zooey topped off her look with a matching jeweled crutch and a stunning pearl diamond ring. Not to mention, her cute tuxedo manicure.

The gown is both unique in colour and design, something different from the regular red carpet appearances.

Pets To Patriots & Fall 5000 Campaign Launch On Friday, November 4 2011, Katherine Heigl arrived for the press conference to launch the Los Angeles Animal Alliance's Fall 5000 Campaign where the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation announced the Pets To Patriots initiative, a program which will provide no-cost adoptions for veterans at participating shelters in the Greater Los Angeles area. She wore her favourite multi-strand pearl necklace with purple jewel clip and a complimentary purple dress and earrings.

She was joined at the event, held at the East Valley Shelter in Van Nuys, by her mother Nancy, sister Meg and the executive director of the Foundation, Kathy Davis. The Pets To Patriots program honors and enhances the lives of our veterans with companion animals in recognition and celebration of their service, while simultaneously seeking to serve animal shelters and the homeless cats and dogs who are in need of forever homes.


The Heigl Foundation has provided the Los Angeles Animal Alliance with a grant of a $30,000 to fund the Pets To Patriots initative, which is dedicated to the memory of Lieutenant Commander Frederick John Debus. "It is a small token of our appreciation to the legion of heroes who have given so much," Katherine explained. Pets To Patriots is a key component of the Fall 5000, an unprecedented adoption campaign that spans 5 counties and 20 shelters with the goal of finding forever homes for 5000 animals during the month of November.

Elizabeth Taylor's La Peregrina Pearl Necklace

Not every woman in the world is as lucky as Elizabeth Taylor who was showered with gifts that were super bright and sparkly. One of the many glamourous gifts that Liz Taylor received was the La Peregina Pearl Necklace, given by Richard Burton. A Valentine's Day present from Burton in 1969 was the 50 carat La Peregrina Pearl that was once owned by Queen Mary I of England.

La Peregrina is a 50 carat pear-shaped pearl found in the early 1500's by a slave in the Gulf of Panama. Philip II of Royal Spanish Court gave it to Mary Tudor (Mary I of England) as an engagement present. After Mary's death it was worn by several Spanish queen consorts until Napoleon made his brother king of Spain in 1808. Joseph Bonaparte took the pearl with him when he was forced to leave the country and thus it received its name: La Peregrina, or "The Pilgrim", or "The Wanderer". The pearl was sold off to the aristocratic Abercorn family who held onto it until they auctioned it in 1969 and Richard Burton bought it for Elizabeth Taylor in 1969. Cartier designed the diamond, ruby and pearl necklace setting that houses La Peregrina today.

The pearl necklace together with 260 plus pieces of jewellery that Elizabeth Taylor owned will be put up for auction by Christie's this December. All proceeds will be donated to the AIDS Foundation founded by Elizabeth Taylor.
